DERTAUR Investments P\/L is committed to sustainable menstrual health and hygiene solutions that meet the needs of girls and women of menstruating age in\u00a0 ZImbabwe and beyond.\u00a0<\/span>Recognising the work that the government is doing towards eliminating period poverty and ensuring that menstrual health and hygiene are part of<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>NDS2 and the Sustainable Development Goals progress indicators, we seek to contribute to this gender equality concern from a public health perspective.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

2025 Private Sector Initiated World Menstrual Day Commemoration <\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Since 2014 the \nWorld Menstrual Hygiene Day has been established  as the 28th of May  and  is\ncommemorated under a different theme each year .<\/span>Being a member of<\/span>  <\/span>the Official Menstrual Hygiene<\/span>   <\/span>Day Partner Network<\/span>  <\/span>, this<\/span> \n<\/span>company hosted the first ever private sector<\/span>  <\/span>initiated<\/span> \n<\/span>World Menstrual Hygiene Day commemoration on 28 May 2025.<\/span><\/p>

Under the theme #<\/span>Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld\u201d<\/span>\n,  the \nevent was attended by representatives from:<\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span> government ministries<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span> female students from  institutions higher and tertiary learning <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span> the Environment Management Agency,<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span>The SMall and Medium Enterprise\nDevelopment Corporation<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span>Faith -based organisations<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span>Women\u2019s groups <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span>Marketers Association, ZImbabwe<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\u25cf     \n<\/span><\/span>Social work practitioners<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p>

Notably, the Confederation of Zimbabwe\nIndustries and ZNCC were unable to attend but requested a written report on the\noutcome of the event, which was duly submitted.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The key outcome from that event was the\nconsensus on the need for more corporate social responsibility contributions\ntowards menstrual health and hygiene.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

It was agreed that  period poverty affects both the adolescent\ngirls and adult women as more than 70% cannot afford to buy the disposable pads\ncurrently on the market,  Stigma and\ndiscrimination  against women during\ntheir menstrual periods was highlighted as a concern.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

Inadequate infrastructure and WASH facilities\nat school, workplaces, social amenities, places of worship and transport\nstations affect the health and safety of women during their menses.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

Therefore more needs to be done to increase\nthe variety of menstrual products on the market , ensuring the safety,\naffordability and environmental friendliness of all menstrual hygiene<\/span>  <\/span>products . <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Since May 2025,  DERTAUR Investments has participated in\nseveral partnership coordination activities \nand realised the strength of such synergies. <\/span>Accordingly, in 2026<\/span>  <\/span>DERTAUR Investments P\/L<\/span>  <\/span>is participating in the Government-led World\nMenstrual Hygiene Day<\/span>  <\/span>commemorations to\nbe held on 1 June 2026.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
